Sectors

The design of institutions may be influenced by the technological requirements of different resources though similar do occur across sectors. For instance rotational allocation of resource is observed in grazing as well as irrigation sectors.

Regions

The irrigation institutions in Kashmir, North Pakistan, Bhutan and Himachal Pradesh (a hill state) based on management of natural streams in the mountains often involve similar rules regarding pre-monsoon voluntary as well as obligatory cleaning of canals or channels, though they do have differences in other regards.

Cultures

Bishnois are known to have much stronger values of conservation in the similar arid regions not shared by other communities having the same resource endowments.
