The journey in Kutch.........

1)     Village : Dabhuda, Taluka: Rapar, Dist.: Kutch

·         Fourteen volumes of Gujarati Encyclopedia (Vishwakosh) and other useful books were donated and library was established in the village.

·         During a plantation programme hundred plants were planted around MOMAI temple with the co-operation of villagers.

2)      Village : Sai 

·         Many books useful for children and villagers were donated to establish a library along with 14 volumes of Vishwakosh.

·         In a plantation programme 100 plants were planted in the village.

3)      Village : Pichhana (Badalpur) :

·         Two rooms were constructed for primary school.

·         A library has been established by donating 14 volumes of Vishwakosh as well as other useful books.

·         Plantation was done around the newly established primary school.

·         A well was recharged at the farm of Mr. Narayanbhai Devjibhai during the 'Shramdan' programme.

·         A recipe contest was organized in which 22 women participated and prepared 14 different delicious recipes. 

4)      Village  : Naliya Timba -2

·         Two rooms for primary school were constructed.

·         A library was established by donating 14 volumes of Vishwakosh and some other useful books.

·         Plantation programme was done.

·         Fifty new students were admitted in the primary school. 

5)      Village : Mevasa

·         Two rooms were constructed for primary school.

·         Fourteen volumes of vishwakosh and useful books for children and youth were donated to establish a library in  village.

·         Plant bio-diversity contest was held in the primary school.

·         Plantation was done around the primary school. 

6)      Village : Thoriyali

·         Fourteen volumes of vishwakosh and useful books for children and youth were donated to establish a library in  village.

·         Thirtyeight new students were admitted in the primary school. 

7)      Village : Kumbhariya

·         Fourteen volumes of vishwakosh and useful books for children and youth were donated to establish a library in  village.

·         A trough was constructed in village for animals.

·         Hundred plants were planted during 'shramdan' programme.

8)      Village : Khanpar

·         Two rooms were constructed for primary school.

·         A library was established by donating 14 volumes of Vishwakosh and some other useful books.

·         A room was constructed for primary school.

·         Useful books for children and youth were donated in  village. 

10)  Village : Jethasari

·         A room was constructed for primary school.

·         Useful books for children and youth were donated in  village. 

11)  Village : Gongawadh

·         A room was constructed for primary school.

·         Useful books for children and youth were donated in  village.

·         A 'chabutara' ( raised platform constructed for feeding birds) was constructed in the village.

·         Plantation was carried out. 

12)  Village : Govindpur

·         A library was established by donating 14 volumes of Vishwakosh and some other useful books. 

13)  Village : Badargadh

·         A library was established in primary school by donating 14 volumes of Vishwakosh and some other useful books.

·         Plant bio-diversity contest was held in the primary school. 

14)  Village : Sarasala

·         Two rooms were constructed for primary school.

·         Useful books for children and youth were donated in  village.

During the Shodhyatra : 

Educational toys, pencil, rubber, table books and other useful books were distributed in all the primary schools. Total 8 primary schools were constructed in 8 different villages. Libraries were established in 10 villages, while in 10 villages plantation was carried out  In 14 villages educational toys were distributed. A remarkable contribution was made by Mr Ramanlal Soni (village: Tintoi, Tal: Modasa, Dist: Sabarkantha), a retired school teacher, for  education awareness through his poems, stories and songs. Meetings and discussions were held with the villagers to develop interest in children towards education. The  knowledge of local people regarding agriculture, veterinary, development of farm implements and other rural skills was compiled and awarded. 

Future plans:

·         To form a committee of some renowned teachers who are interested in child education programme which will start 'Education Awareness Movement ' by providing regular visit in  different villages of Rapar taluka. All the necessary help  and co-operation will be provided by SRISTI.

·         To establish libraries in many of the villages and provide more books for all age groups and other basic facilities to the libraries established in this Shodhyatra.

·         To compile, advertise, analyse and improve the traditional knowledge of the villagers.

·         Shodhyatra - 8 : Alwar district of Rajasthan from December 24, 2001 to January 1, 2002 .

·         The villagers live nomadic life, so whenever they go for labour work to the other village they move along with their family. Therefore, there is a necessity of mobile school or a hostel in the village.
