Mission The project aims at developing the concept of a clearinghouse for educational innovations of primary school teachers working in state and panchayat run/funded schools. It aims to build on the strengths of those teachers who experiment and innovate, on their own,in order to solve educational problems in their immediate contexts. A freely available "educational bank" of the solutions developed by these teachers can be used by other teachers, teacher trainers and institutions working with teachers. The clearinghouse concept involves identifying and validating the work of innovative teachers, and making them available in usable forms to the users of the clearinghouse. It also implies recognizing the work of the identified teachers, honouring such teachers and networking them to explore the possibilities of alternative teacher development mechanisms. Key Project Steps: - Preliminary search for innovations.
- Study of written documentation of teachers.
- Screening of innovations with the help of local partner educational institutions, including obtaining the permission and ‘prior informed consent’ of the innovative teacher for further dissemination of the innovation.
- Processing of identified innovations Converting the results of the screening into teacher and trainer usable outputs like case studies, or documents in multi-media format. The initial focus will be on the printed form since the infrastructure needed for the multi-media format is still underdeveloped in the contexts this project deals with.
- Dissemination of the products to teachers and training institutions, and monitoring the use of the service.
This site is under development and trial. It will be updated and enhanced during 2006-07.
