A Rabari Veterinarian Lakhabhai treats animals with problems like Foot and Mouth Disease, `valo', flatulence, prolapse of vagina, dropping of placenta, milking, imparting heat, conception, bone fracture etc. Some treatments suggested by him; i) Crushed leaves of henna (`mehndi') and fine sand known as `Gormati dhul' are kept overnight in an open earthen vessel filled with water. The next day morning, the mixture is fed to the animals having problem of repetitive breeding. |

Lakhabhai is a 60 year old `Rabari' (Pastoralist) of Paliyad village. He could never attend school as he lost his father at a very early age. He owns about 2.5 ha of land in his village. He is a self -taught veterinary expert and is known for his noble service in the region. |
