To promote, organize and conduct
any kind of programs, schemes or activities to scout, document, augment
innovations by small farmers, artisans, pastoralists etc., primarily in
disadvantaged rural areas.
- The value addition in grassroots
innovations will help in generating new models of poverty alleviation,
rural development, employment generation and conservation of natural resources
through generation of higher incomes for the innovators, improving efficiency
of production in farm and non-farm sectors without impairing the ecological
balance and environmental quality.
- The action research, training and
educational inputs and networking among innovators will help achieve the
larger public purpose of empowering knowledge rich economically disadvantaged
people. Rich biodiversity based knowledge
systems of rural people will be particularly augmented through linkage
with formal science and technology systems so as to stem erosion of knowledge
in society.
