The columns of Honey Bee have not provided adequate space for the expression of children’s creativity and innovations. However, it is better to be late than never. The next issue of Honey Bee will be? a special issue focusing on children’s innovations and ideas.

What can you do ?
Are you aware of any innovative products or services, devised by children ? Do you know any child who is brimming with ideas for technological innovations?

If you are, then write to us or better still, ask the children to write to us. If you are involved in the field of education, you can hold competitions among your students and send the entries to us.

We believe that given adequate recognition and mentoring, these ideas can change the world. Samples of some of the ideas which we have received from children:

• Attaching a sensor to a fan, to automatically switch off the fan when no one is around.
• Using waste water to generate electricity for street lights.
• Attaching buckets to each other through a pipe, to minimize overflow of water.
• Using the fan like a windmill to generate electricity for other house-hold purposes.
• A bike which runs on the force generated by water and a turbine, instead of petrol.

These are just a few ideas from our young minds. There could be more, just round the corner, ticking in the minds of your child, your neighbor's child or the child on the street.
