SRISTI and Honey Bee Network welcome you to join them on the 25th journey of exploration- the Shodhyatra.

The 25th Shodhyatra route passes through remote hilly and forest areas. During the seven days of the walk, the yatris will pass through over a dozen villages and many smaller settlements mostly inhabited by tribal people.

How to reach Narayanpur: The nearest Airport/ Railway Station is Raipur (Capital City). The participants should reach Raipur latest by the morning of 14th May only then they will be able to arrive at Narayanpur by afternoon/late afternoon. Private Coaches are available from Raipur to Narayanpur (288 km) via Kondagaon, which take 5-6 hours for the entire journey. Participants should reach the village Kondagaon before 04.00 p.m. as no transport is available after 04.00 p.m. for Narayanpur, which is about 48 km away from Kondagaon.

The stay arrangement at Narayanpur has been made at Swami Vivekanand Ashram, which about 1 km from the Bus Stand

NOTE: Please carry a valid photo identity card with you due to security concerns. Also please note that only BSNL Mobile Network is available in the region.

Shodh Yatra
Shodh Yatra is a journey in search of knowledge, creativity and innovations at the grassroots. It is an attempt to reach out to the remotest part of the country with a firm belief that hardship and challenges of natural surroundings are the prime motivators of creativity and innovations. Shodh Yatra aims at unearthing such traditional knowledge and grassroots innovations that have not only simplified the lives of men, women and farm laborers but have also significantly contributed towards the conservation of bio-diversity. It is a journey of mutual exchange and sharing of knowledge. Hence the following are requested to all the participants of Shodhyatra:
  1. At least 50 herbal practices and innovations are to be collected from their own locality and submitted to SRISTI/NIF.
    OR
  2. Help in getting at least 50 subscribers of Honey Bee or other regional versions of the newsletter.
  3. If you are a student or a scientist, it would be great if you could help in detail documentation and value addition of traditional knowledge based practices.
  4. If you are a journalist, you are requested to help in publishing innovations and practices of 5 to 10 innovators/knowledge holders and thus help in disseminating the practice/innovation
Kindly Note the following
  1. Bed Spreads and Mosquito net/repellent are to be carried during the yatra for personal use.
  2. Towels, Tooth brush and paste, soaps, water bag, cloths for daily use, comfortable shoes/sandals so that you can walk the hilly areas without any inconvenience.
  3. If it is the time of the year when it rains please do not forget to carry your raincoat and/or umbrella.
  4. Steel Dish, bowl, spoon and glass one each for your personal use. Disposable plastics are strictly prohibited.
  5. During the train journey (both to and fro), please bear your own food expenses.
  6. Please be prepared to walk 15-20 kms daily during the shodhyatra.
  7. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be arranged by SRISTI. Since Shodhyatra is a voluntary activity, shodhyatris may also have to help the organizers in preparation of food and other arrangements if required.
  8. Diary, pen and if you have a camera of your own, kindly carry it along.
  9. Torch, candle, small lock and key, strings and clips to hang/dry cloths and your medicines are the other materials you are to carry to avoid inconvenience.
  10. Each individual should book his/her to and fro bus/train tickets on their own.
  11. Shodh yatris will be provided simple meals for three times, accommodation in schools and other places in the villages, a vehicle to carry luggage. Thus, each participant is to contribute Rs 200/- per day to meet the expenses for the same.
  12. Pickup/drop to/from any nearest point to Shodhyatra route may be arranged by the organizer upon request, the expense of which will be borne by the individual/group.
