21st Shodh Yatra

Shodh Yatra/Learning Journey in uk postponed to 2008, volunteers needed

My dear friends

we tried but did not succeed in mobilsiing enough energy this year. We needed volunteers to help in identifying the route, visit the communities and identify outstanding social achievers to be honoured during the walk, linkages with the schools to interact with the children, organise biodiversity contests among them to spot young green genius on the way, organize recipe contest to spot preservers of old traditional knowledge about culinary  creativity, look for innovators who have solved problems through their own genious,  and locate  hundred  years or older trees, other sites which need to be conserved, or have been conserved through extraordinary community or individual efforts etc.,
Nothing is lost. We can still do it next year, provided we start preparing now. Mark is there to help us all, but then he will need active volunteers to help with the logistics.

I am convinced that learning walks will bring us in touch with a) ourselves, b) nature , c) local communities and self inspired individuals, and d) each other

It will help us also identify those social needs which depite UK being a developed society are still not met, design issues which have not made it to the table of designers, technological issues which scientists and technologists have ignored, and institutional issues which need attention for creating a more caring, creative, collaborative and compassionate society.

I hope that some of you will take lead and help in taking this dialogue further.May be you do not need me, you can do it on your own, in any case, my best wishes and thansk for all the positive energy.
